In 2014, AFC Cable was the first to commercialize Metal Clad (MC) Cable with both power and control circuits under one armor, it became MC Luminary® Cable. AFC has expanded this family of products to include both an HCF version (MC Luminary® HCF®) for applications that include areas of patient care, as well as another industry first, a complete line of multi-zone lighting cable configurations (MC Luminary® MultiZone®).
MC Luminary® Cable combines power and control circuits under a single interlocked armor reducing installation time and materials on the job site. All MC Luminary® products are designed for LED and fluorescent dimming systems.
MC Luminary® HCF® is the healthcare version of our standard MC Luminary® Cable with the addition of the redundant ground required for NEC 517.13. Both the armor and the full sized aluminum ground/bonding conductor in combination with the full sized green insulated copper grounding conductor act as the equipment grounding means per NEC 250.0118(10)(b). This provides the necessary redundancy to ensure the highest level of safety in patient care areas equipped with numerous metal-encased devices. The new lighting control wire design responds to the rapidly increasing use of solid state LED and fluorescent lighting fixtures in healthcare applications.
MC Luminary® MultiZone® can replace up to three traditional luminary cables or three power and three control cables. This product is designed specifically for use in daylight harvesting applications and complies with the non-residential indoor lighting requirements contained in the California Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards and other energy saving lighting designs. MC Luminary® MultiZone® responds to daylight harvesting trends that seek to save energy and reduce power costs by dimming lights proportionally to the availability of natural light. The cables are offered with multiple PVC jacket color options matched to the power conductor color codes. Also offered are neutral per-phase constructions.
